TCTMC Speech Marathon 2014

This was the first meeting that we had
right after the exam season and vacation.

This meeting was a bit special
compared to normal ones.
What we are doing now was
Project Speech Marathon

If you did not know what is it,
just a few simple rules.
NO agenda, NO general evaluator
NO table topics, NO theme of the day

This was the speech marathon
that has the most speakers give their speech.
10 Speeches
presented to you.

Although there were few photos had been taken,
we had something even better,
which is
we recorded all the speakers' speech
and uploaded in our YouTube channel.

By the way, this is the link for our speech marathon:

In this speech marathon,
I also gave my AC speech.
It was the first time I give advanced project speech
in my own club.

Besides that,
I was bringing in my contest speech for the IS contest to the club.
I did my best
as humor is not my strength
at least brought the energy level of the room.

Anyway,
we had 5 ice breakers who started their toastmasters journey
at the same time,
for those who took their first step by being evaluators.

What a great day had passed!
Do join us in Taylor's College Subang Jaya
Every Tuesday,
4.15 pm - 6.15 pm
The door is always open to everyone
:)

What will college student eat? - Good Friends @ SS15

I have to say,
the rate of changing restaurants in SS15
is more frequent than other town that I see so far.
I think is due to the population is vibrant
since there are lots of college students.

Anyway,
today I had a chance to visit of the new restaurants
which was
Good Friends
with my classmates.

What we found out when we entered the restaurant?
A game zone where there was mini football table!!
Although it wrecked,
still great way to strengthen the friendship we had.

The interior design is fairly well,
old school coffee house
brings out the relax atmosphere.
Which let us stay for quite a time.

 That's the drink station.
where amazing drink, coffee, tea etc had made.

I also saw some ancient items on the shelf.
Every table there are free bottle of plain water
to drink

Cappuccino ~ (RM9)
Comment : I like the design of that whipped cream which I seldom see in other restaurant. That makes me don't want to drink off this beautiful coffee. Anyway, the cream was much enough to make a cream mustache on your mouth. It was nice and smooth, I can still smell that fragrant from the coffee.
Rating: 7/10

Blue Mussel Pasta ~ (RM20)

Comment : Quite a time that I didn't have seafood as the protein in my dish. From the presentation, there were lots of blue mussels setting around the simple olio pasta. The mussels cooked well and fresh when I ate it. The fleshes was so big. > < The pasta was seasoned well with the olio sauce and it was fragrant. A garlic bread is provided to soak with the remaining sauce on the plate. (italian culture) That was divine to have the garlic bread.
Rating: 8/10

Moreover,
this restaurant also serve main meals of the day
Breakfast
Lunch
Lunch Tea
Dinner

As a sum,
indeed it is a perfect venue
for friend gathering
and chat as long as you can.

Be the Star or Be the Shadow?

We all wrote an essay in primary school
titled
"My ambition"

"I want to be a doctor."
"I want to be an actor."
"I want to be a lawyer."
"I want to be an engineer."
etc.

Most of us at that moment
were very energetic
dreamed big
believed ourselves that we can do it
to be the GREAT ones.
Be the STARS

Moving on to the secondary school.
You have a widen vocabulary than before
therefore you rewrote your statement as
" I want to be an excellent doctor who helps people."
"I want to be the most famous actor like Chris Evan."
"I want to be a well-known lawyer who accepts BIG cases only."
"I want to be the greatest engineer who innovates current technology."

During those time,
we looked our future very far and wonderful.
Although there are some unknowns in that pathway.
We still move on and gave the vow we'll overcome the difficulties.

One phrase that we been told is
"Said is always easier than Action."
As the time passed,
They felt demotivated by comparing themselves with others.
They felt they cannot make it because it was very hard and suffering.
They complained that other people were arrogant with their achievement.
They lied themselves that current situation is perfect to them.

Their statements had become.
"I want to be a doctor."
"I want to be an actor"
"I want to be a lawyer"
"I want to be an engineer."

With self-satisfaction, perfect, humble
attitude.

That's sounds not bad.
However,
you slapped yourself
and
let yourself stay at the primary school level.
Unwilling to advance to the next level
that was beyond your expectation
and you can make it

A shining new star,
yet will to chose
be someone's shadow.

We always have a choice
between star and shadow
and we can survive in our life in either way

Every single one of us born
to be the brightest star in the night sky
We are unique in our own way.
If we want to be a star,
there are doors open for you
no one will able to stop you
except yourself.

Be brave to shine,
Be confident to shine,
Stay on the track no matter what,
because there is always a reserved slot
for you to stand out.
> <

I always think that music speaks louder than words. Long time didn't share any GLEE song. Presented to you:

BRAVE

At the same time, would like share out
THE VOICE STUDIO VERSION
by the recent battle rounds.
They were amazing.

Book Sharing - Who Moved My Cheese?

In secondary school,
I used to read some external books besides my study.
However,
I didn't continue my reading after I went to college
because I was "excused" myself to concentrate on my study.

Till few months ago,
I decided to re-cultivate my reading habit.
I bought tonnes of new books,
mainly self-help and some biography.
This time I read with purpose.

Today,
the 1st book that I am going to share with you
is
"Who Moved My Cheese?"
by Dr Spencer Johnson.

This is a SELF-HELP book which presented
through a very SIMPLE & MEANINGFUL story.

The story is mainly talked about an interesting short story shared by a man.
There are 4 characters in that story
who reflects the human nature in real life.
2 mice named "Sniff" and "Scurry"
2 little people named "Hem" and "Haw"
Four of them running in the maze and search for cheese.

Although it was easy to understand,
great wisdom hidden in that story.
Cheese is actually a metaphor,
which reflected things that you want in life
Fame, Fortune, Wealth
Health, Success, Big Mansion
Race car, new Xbox One
and so on.

We are searching for them throughout our life.
Indeed we will reach there in the end and enjoy the satisfaction.
However,
Life keeps changing
Nothing is eternal
We can't always stay at the one point only.

In the story,
the mice already noticed about the change in amount of the cheese
therefore they didn't feel surprised
when the change came to them
yet they moved on to search for new cheese
whereas Hem & Haw
were just hemming and hawing about the change
complain about the change.

Sometimes
it was because we are afraid to change
we stay too long in our comfort zone
therefore in the end we resist to change

To have a better future
and sustainable success in life
we should be brave to take our first step
outside our comfort zone.
Just like Haw's decision to find New Cheese
instead of just looking back to the past
that had changed

We also know that in the process of change
it could be challenging and suffering
The hardest part of doing anything
always is the beginning
When you're moving on,
keep that result you wanted in your mind always.
That will drive you far far away till the goal.

Besides,
always be prepared for the next change
So that,
you're ready to move once again when the time had come.

These are the wisdom that came from the handwriting on the wall
by Haw

Change Happens
They Keep Moving The Cheese
Anticipate Change
Get Ready For The Cheese To Move
Monitor Change
Smell The Cheese Often So You Know When It Is Getting Old
Adapt To Change Quickly
The Quicker You Let Go Of Old Cheese, The Sooner You Can Enjoy New Cheese
Change
Move With The Cheese
Enjoy Change!
Savor The Adventure And Enjoy The Taste of New Cheese!
Be Ready To Change Quickly And Enjoy It Again
They Keep Moving Cheese

For me, this book is very useful and applicable in anything that you are doing in life. Therefore, I am very recommend this book for those haven't read this book yet. Everyone has the different perspective when they read this story. Do share with me what's your thoughts. :)

HELP University Toastmasters Club Meeting

On 22 March,
I went to HELP University for their meeting
as Time Keeper.

Quite long time didn't go for clubbing
till I had forgotten when was my last visit.
Anyway,
the theme of their meeting
was
Black & White

Actually,
I wasn't been informed that
there was a dress code
which supposed to be Black & White.

How lucky was I wearing a very bright blue shirt on that day.
Oops..awkward!!
(At least there were other people company me haha XP)

So the meeting began as usual.
Today's table topics is a
story telling marathon

RULE: The topicmaster will give the opening of the story. The speaker had to continue the story and then passed to the second speaker and so on till the last speaker gave an ending.

During this session,

starts with someone holding a toy gun
proceeded from a guy who was very sensitive to the colours of the lights
till a person suddenly fell to hell
and get torture,
ends with that one flew to heaven and been saved.

(Hahaha....that was the most ridiculous and unique fairytale that I ever heard.)
That was funny and everyone in that room laughed till stomache!!
> <

After the break in between the sessions,

we're moving on to the project speech session.
I witness a talent speaker who just gave her very first Ice Breaker speech.
That drama element, switching between characters
it was spectacular.

Then,
a young lady who told us that every single one of us was beautiful.
We shall be proud about ourselves.
Never ever let people's critics affects you.
Because we're beautiful as a whole

Lastly,
we have another amazing lady
who talked about courage.
All of us had fear,
all of us had our own comfort zone.

However,
to let our life be adventurous and meaningful.
We have to admit our fear,
endure our fear,
overcome our fear.
in order
to gain courage and confidence

We walk outside and expand our comfort zone.

His name was Joshua Ralph. Best Table Topics Speaker of the meeting. He spoke very well in American accent
and he is from Eastern Malaysia.

Piya Raj, Best Project Speech Speaker of the meeting. She was the one who spoke "50 Shades of Beauty"

Denise Th'ng (left), Best Evaluator of the meeting. She was the current president of HUTMC and some of you recognized her that she is one of the finalists of Miss Universe Malaysia 2014.

Chew Yi Ling, who had completed the CC manual. Congratz Yi Ling, CC. > <
According to the information from reliable source, the pose was originated by this guy .

"Hey, I am in black & white now !!!"

GROUP PHOTO! SAY "CHEESE" !!!

Credits to James for B&W photos

My visiting ended
with the lunch gathering

The food was not bad,
everyone was sharing their current status
discussing some latest news
and of course
SELFIE

(Actually I started after few moments with using the photo boothing apps, my first time)

STAY TUNED
FOR MORE SHARING IN THE FUTURE!!!

Did you still remember these things?

It's April Fool's Day.
And
I would like to tell you that
I'm going to get married,
blessed me :)
(Just a small kidding with you guys, no harm hehe)

Anyway,
let's get to the point.
We're living in this magnificent era,
with better lifestyle by the aids of technology that invented.
Ultrabook, iphone, ipad, google glass
etc.

A great appreciation to the great innovators.

However,
I want to ask
When is your last time you used your house's phone?
Are you still playing video games
by using Sony Play Station, Xbox 360, Wii?
Did you still remember the existence these devices??

Nowadays,
indeed our life become more convenience & fun
with the presence of these 3C products.
Somehow,
we became more dependent on them
on entertainment, productivity, communication etc.

From that moment,
we had forgotten how much fun
that brought by these gaming device during our childhood.
We forgot how magnificent
the invention of telephone was.

Some of us even use our own smartphone,
spend some prepaid money,
to call someone,
instead of using house's telephone,
which is monthly postpaid
and unlimited at home.
(I am the one of them too, what a hilarious joke I made.)

Until today,
I just realized I had 100% attached with smartphone
and ignored my normal house telephone.
I used it to call my mum,
right in front of the telephone.

Therefore,
don't make such a move
for other devices
Some of the devices are more effective than the 3Cs
and bring more fun experiences
(actually they're improving as well)
Do recognize their existence
