What will college student eat? - Salute Dining and Wine @ SS15

Last Wednesday,
right after my club's election.
Desmond, Amanda, Christopher and I
went to this restaurant
for dinner
(or some of sort pre-celebration for both of them being EXCOs)

Salute
Dining & Wine

In Italy, they said the word "Salute" to have a toast of wine.
It sounds fancy
and it looks fancy too

It just my class seldom to have a meal there,
we just passing by almost everyday.
Because when we went there,
was around 6 p.m.
The sky started to become dark.
The whole place
was filled with
warm and romantic
atmosphere

Another fusion between bar and cashier.
You can actually sit there for a coffee
or a meal.

If you want to have a candlelight dinner, this is the right place that you should come with you love one.

I ordered their meal promotion while others take the weekly special.

I had
Pasta with White Creamy Sauce, Parmesan cheese and Pan Fried Salmon ~ RM13

I actually forgot the name
(my apology)
Along with Ice Lemon Tea
Comment: One of my preferences is Italian cuisine. I had ate lots of pasta, this is one of few restaurants that actually added the Parmesan cheese in it. Because it was the cheese that added some savory into the dish as the sauce is milky and some sweetness on it. The salmon, was a bit dry. I felt a bit overcooked (I am not a very pro food critics) However, the seasoning was fine with it. It still tastes good as a whole.

Rating: 7/10

Even though tax is included, I saw on the board that there was student discount about 10%.

Because the environment was so nice,
it is also another place
for friends gathering
and have a heart-to-heart talk

or
for bloggers to have some inspiration and blog
under such scenario.

Another place had been spotted
by KMENT
Will bring you more dining places
that you can go for it
in the future

What wil college student eat? - Rendezvous Corner

Here used to be called as
"Salmon Steak"
After a restaurant makeover,
now they be known as
"Rendezvous Corner"

The layout was totally different as last time,
No more TV,
No cushion chairs

What I saw was
lots of giant group dining tables
with some separation

also there are dessert counter
right besides the cashier

They even transformed the outside of the restaurant
There are swing dining tables and also picnic table,
one of the significant items from Salmon Steak.
Although most of my classmates missed the Ramli Burger Stall that used to be here.
(If you went to Salmon Steak before, you will recognize those pictures at the corner.)

We had seen lots of changes of the restaurant,
let's see the new menus from RC.

In my first visit, I ordered

Bologna Spaghetti with Chicken Chop ~ ( RM6.80 )*

Comment: I never ordered any pasta dish in Salmon Steak. Therefore, I cannot compare with the previous one. However, the texture of that chicken chop was better than last time. It was not too heavy and it was crispy enough. The sauce is pretty typical as this is the fundamental for a bologna spaghetti. It was sweet and there were some carrot dices if not mistaken. The sauce is given more than last time. Just this time no free drink for lunch menu.

Rating: 7/10

The other day
my friend and I had another visit.
It was weekend,
no lunch menu.
I decided to ordered something not on the lunch menu.

Lemon Fish and Chips~ (around RM 13)*

Comment: I like to eat a whole big piece of fish and with a piece of lemon which is optional for people to add on the fish. The fish was cooked pretty well, there was still moisture there. It tasted even better when it served with lemon juice. I did enjoy the acidity, although bit covered other seasonings on the fish. The chips is normal, first time having french fries in RC. Just the plate looks bit empty.

Rating: 6/10

The only thing that I disliked
was
they had service tax now.
Which never happened previously.

Also heard some of reviews from my friends
who visited before that
there were some dishes are not eatable.

At least,
there are something dishes you may want to have
which were the Cheese Fondue
or
Escargot (snail dish)

To summarize up,
the old "Salmon Steak" had gone,
and the new "Rendezvous Corner" had come.
It looks fancier,
there were more selection of dessert
and some dishes that we didn't see before.

Another fine place to fill up your tummy :)

What will college student eat? - Good Friends @ SS15

I have to say,
the rate of changing restaurants in SS15
is more frequent than other town that I see so far.
I think is due to the population is vibrant
since there are lots of college students.

Anyway,
today I had a chance to visit of the new restaurants
which was
Good Friends
with my classmates.

What we found out when we entered the restaurant?
A game zone where there was mini football table!!
Although it wrecked,
still great way to strengthen the friendship we had.

The interior design is fairly well,
old school coffee house
brings out the relax atmosphere.
Which let us stay for quite a time.

 That's the drink station.
where amazing drink, coffee, tea etc had made.

I also saw some ancient items on the shelf.
Every table there are free bottle of plain water
to drink

Cappuccino ~ (RM9)
Comment : I like the design of that whipped cream which I seldom see in other restaurant. That makes me don't want to drink off this beautiful coffee. Anyway, the cream was much enough to make a cream mustache on your mouth. It was nice and smooth, I can still smell that fragrant from the coffee.
Rating: 7/10

Blue Mussel Pasta ~ (RM20)

Comment : Quite a time that I didn't have seafood as the protein in my dish. From the presentation, there were lots of blue mussels setting around the simple olio pasta. The mussels cooked well and fresh when I ate it. The fleshes was so big. > < The pasta was seasoned well with the olio sauce and it was fragrant. A garlic bread is provided to soak with the remaining sauce on the plate. (italian culture) That was divine to have the garlic bread.
Rating: 8/10

Moreover,
this restaurant also serve main meals of the day
Breakfast
Lunch
Lunch Tea
Dinner

As a sum,
indeed it is a perfect venue
for friend gathering
and chat as long as you can.

What will college student eat? - Chilli Pan Mee @ SS15

This is one of the MUST VISIT restaurant
in SS15
where here sells the most stunning
Chili Pan Mee
Although the set up is simple,
yet serving great food
makes it special

Here we are,
the spicy and delicious
Chili Pan Mee
with green leaf soup. (RM6.50)
This photo is taken after I added and mixed with dried chilies.
That's what they served you before you added chilies.

Comment: When the dish is served, you can what are the ingredients for a great pan mee, minced meat, anchovies (ikan bilis), some onions and nice sunny side egg right in the middle of my bowl. I added 2 spoons of dries chillies (I like spicy). The moment I put in my mouth, you can sense the heat brought by the chilies. It was fragrant yet did not covered over the flavour of other ingredients. It is a very unique combination for the whole dish. If you didn't put at least half spoon of dried chilies, the ingredients doesn't make sense for it. Even the egg yolk not just give some flavour to the noodle, also let it become sticky so you can eat the minced meat with the noodles. Anyway, this indeed a significant dish that you have to eat as you studying in SS15. (Of cource, they have shops in other locations.)

Rating : 9/10

Chilli Pan Mee is not the only dish for this restaurant.
However,
if you don't eat it,
then why you're here?

Don't worry
the adding dried chilies part is self service.
You can add according to your capability
(Cautious: Too much may cause some constipation or burning in stomach)

Therefore,
no matter freshmen in college
or seasoned graduates
When you asked them what food will they recommend,
Chilli Pan Mee will be one of the fan favourites.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

At the same day,
after we had our lunch at Tony Roma's.
We went to TGV Cinema to watch "Captain America : The Winter Soldier"

Although for some countries,
this movie haven't been released.
I felt blessed we got a chance ahead to watch it.

Overall,
I would say it was another great Marvels Movie
right after the "Captain America" and "Avenger"
My friend and I found that
the way they craft the storyline was amazing
because even though there are other Marvels Movies
like Iron Man, Thor, Green Lantern (that's DC movie, oops) and so on
the storyline seems to be connected from each other
and give you the whole story of the truth in the movie.

And somehow,
sometimes you can see several characters that you had seen before this movie,
they continued that story of that character.
For the example,
the Senator who was actually a supporter of Hydra
is the same man who gives the badges to Tony Stark and James in Iron Man.
(Thank goodness he was finally be caught and never going to see him again XP)

Additionally,
as usual in most of the movies
there were certain punch lines of humor.
My favourite part is while Agent Romanoff and Steve Rogers
hiding from the assassination from S.H.I.E.L.D.
they have to impost as married couples.
with some awkward "sweet laughters"
and the nurse who was actually an agent worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. as well.

The most exciting part for this movie
was still the dynamic of the storyline once again.
It was some sort of charisma from Marvels movie series
that they put their suspense very well.
I was shocked when I saw Nick Fury killed by the Winter Soldier
and suddenly alive and say Hi to the Secretary of Defence, Alexander Pierce
with his gun.
Also at the end of the movie,
the twins     who are they??       Where they come from???

As a whole,
it a MUST for Marvels Fan to watch.
For those who aren't,
I recommend you as well.
I can't wait to watch upcoming CA or Avengers movie.

What will college student eat? - Tony Roma's @ Sunway Pyramid

What an amazing day is,
because I am just
FINISHED MY TRIAL EXAM
WooHoo!!!
In addition,
now is almost the end of the March.
Therefore, I would like to reward myself
with fine dining.
(I will tell you what is my spending habit next time :D )

Where am I?
Oh yes,
after finished Mathematics Paper 4...
The whole class of PE4 went to Sunway Pyramid
for Party Time
(Even though it was in the early morning)

Since we are been released from the stress of trial exam
we decided to have great lunch
which brought us to
Tony Roma's
basically they sell
RIBS, SEAFOOD, STEAKS

What caught my eyes when I walked in,
was this dazzling bar
 where cocktails, beers
or other kind of drinks will be prepared by the bartender there.

There are different kinds of dining arrangement
There also photos around the restaurant which I believed was the founder and guests that visited Tony Roma's in the past.

For me,
I would recommend to you as a great place
for a class gathering
sitting long table
and have a lunch
(also great for dating too > <)

I ordered
Pineapple & Grape Blast (RM14.90)
Comment: That drink was amazing, not just that pure red colour which makes me feel as refreshing as eating watermelon. The combination of pineapple and grape was very interesting. There were rich sweetness from both fruits at the same time acidity as well. That made me enjoy the drink which not so over sweet for me. And I always like there are real fruit piece on my glass, decorative and eatable.

After all of us had done ordering,
they served us some simple
bread with sauce
which was similar with garlic bread's butter
(Oh man!! when I tore the bread, that crispy sound came from the bread that shown how fresh & well baked is.)

And now
let the main course to serve on my table please.

Present to you,
Filet Medallions with
toppings of Peppercorn Sauce, Demi-Glace and BBQ Onions
&
side dishes of coleslaw and mashed potato. (RM69.90)
Comment: To talk frankly, that was my first time, I flew to heaven when I ate that filet. I ordered medium rare, and it was so juicy and cooked perfectly. It's flavor was further elevated by the topping, gave me 3 different sensation of that steak. My favorite sauce would be the peppercorn sauce.Of course, didn't forget that how important the side dishes are. That mashed potatoes was stunning it was light and be served in large portion, I also tasted there was other texture, which is something like red pepper and cheese on that mash. As a sum, that's a really mouth-watering beef dish that I ever had. I still remember that scenario till now.

While I was enjoying my dish,
other classmates as well.
One of them ordered
Roma's Sampler (RM39.90)
Although it just an appetizer, it served as huge as an entree.
(Look that onion loaf, that's lot of onion rings.)

My friend said that the chicken wings plays a huge in this Sampler.
At least, it tasted much better than normal fried/grilled.

Not just steaks only,
my another friend ordered a panini
that covered the meat, mushroom, tomato and cheese.
That's the typical US style
to have a sandwich.

Moreover,
there were other menus like
Fish & Chip
Shrimp & Salmon Piccata
etc.

I know this was way more than a normal college student's budget.
However,
it would be great if you have these once in a month.

 My suggestion for you is:
EVERY END OF THE MONTH
since you did spend wisely throughout the month,
take part of it as budget to reward yourself.

By recharging yourself
with scrumptious meal.
You will have the motivation to work hard,
and can't wait for the next month.
Give peak performance in the end.
You will be not just happy,
and never regret.
